Will there be a Diablo 4

Will there be a Diablo 4? Probably! We’ve known for a while now that Blizzard is working on a new game set in the Diablo universe. This comes directly from their website where they specifically say: we’re working on a new game in the Diablo universe (http://ift.tt/17PYQct) There are several open job positions for an “unannounced project” under the Diablo category. Looking more closely at these job openings, we get the following tidbits of information. For the VFX artist, we read: “Blizzard Entertainment is seeking an exceptionally skilled senior VFX artist for our next hit game! You have a passion for bringing the Diablo universe to life through visceral action. You live on a rich diet of fire, explosions, blood, guts, and exploding bloody guts that are on fire. Your well of creative ideas for how enemies spawn, attack, and die never runs dry. You can translate design concepts into juicy, eye-catching visuals with a stylized, hand-crafted touch and a focus on feel. As a “Combat Imagineer” your DNA is part artist, part designer, and part tech wizard. You see ways to make crazy ideas happen. You thrive in a busy, collaborative, cross-discipline environment of peers who are insanely passionate about the dark medieval worlds of Diablo.” (http://ift.tt/29c78VY) There are positions open for: Software Engineer, Graphics Animator, Unannounced Project Game Director, Unannounced Project Senior Animator, Unannounced Project Senior Character Artist, Unannounced Project Senior Concept Artist, Unannounced Project Senior VFX Artist, Unannounced Project So, they are clearly working on something based in the Diablo universe, we just don’t know if it’s Diablo IV. Considering the fact that we’re talking about 3d artists, things exploding and dying, armor, weapons, and so on, we’re probably not looking at another card game – which I don’t think Blizzard would do anyways since they already have Hearthstone. I think that we would be safe in ruling out an RTS as well, though it would be pretty cool. That leaves Diablo 4 and possibly a full-blown MMORPG based on Diablo lore. Again, this could be pretty cool. We have the story to advance within the main Diablo games, as well as the entire eternal conflict that could be explored in a Wow-esque game. Personally, I’d love to explore more of the dark, gothic world of Diablo like that. There have several rumors floating around as well in regards to a possible Diablo 4 announcement during Blizzcon 2016. One popular Diablo YouTuber, Rhykker, has put together several in-depth videos in regards to these rumors and possible easter eggs (I like the dice one). Those have been in the pipeline for a while now and were posted in a separate section of the job page. We expect to see those projects announced during Blizzcon this year as well. So, to again answer the question: will there be a Diablo 4? Probably. It’s either Diablo IV or another game based in the same universe – either of which would be really cool! Did we miss something?
